Anyone trying to find a cheap loan online in the current price crisis should be careful. Websites like credichamp.de, credichamp24.com or donkre-dito.com advertise loans that are easy to apply for. Anyone who accepts this will then be confronted with various bills.
“Credit monitoring” through Payplus?
One of these invoices comes from Payplus GmbH for a supposedly commissioned “credit monitoring”. It remains unclear what that actually is. The Brandenburg Consumer Center (VZB) warned the provider because of insufficient contract information. Since he did not issue a cease and desist declaration, the VZB went to court. The Cologne Regional Court considers the service to be “not ordered” in this specific case. Consumers are not obliged to pay.
Easy to get the loan you want?
If you want to apply for a loan on the various websites of PLUS CARDS Limited from Great Britain, you don't need much at first: enter information about the loan you want and contact details, put three ticks under various "notes", which mainly consist of links, and then click "Buy now". . But what exactly are consumers actually buying here?
“That’s not an easy question to answer because the website skimps on transparent information.”
Stefanie Kahnert, lawyer at the Brandenburg Consumer Center.
What is certain is that various providers ask you to pay after clicking on the PLUS CARDS Limited websites. One of these providers is Payplus GmbH, which charges fees for its credit monitoring service “Credify.me”. In the small print you can see that there is a usage fee of 0.49 euros per day for 365 days pa with a 24-month term.
“That corresponds to the impressive amount of 357.70 euros. The provider leaves the calculation of the final price to others and I still don’t know what service I get for the price.”
Stefanie Kahnert, lawyer at the Brandenburg Consumer Center.
Claim without sufficient information
The Cologne Regional Court states that in this specific case, Payplus GmbH is selling a service without consumers being sufficiently informed about it beforehand. There is therefore no order based on a free and informed decision.
“Of course, a service that is not ordered does not have to be paid for – consumers can defend themselves against such an invoice.”
Stefanie Kahnert, lawyer at the Brandenburg Consumer Center.
It is even better not to let such an invoice arise at all.
“A watchful eye is required, especially when making loan inquiries on the Internet. Consumers can save themselves a lot of trouble if they check the provider before entering their data.”
Stefanie Kahnert, lawyer at the Brandenburg Consumer Center.
A quick search online is often enough to determine whether you are dealing with a reputable company.
