Parents warn on social media about an alleged police officer who is said to have spoken to children.

As the Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis police report, a warning message from parents has spread rapidly on social media since yesterday afternoon (September 19th).

The police cannot confirm any of the facts currently circulating.

The warning message circulated reports of an alleged police officer who is said to have spoken to children in the area of schools or kindergartens in the Bensberg/Refrath/Lückerath districts. There are no criminal charges filed with the RheinBerg police! The police have a report from September 6, 2018, where a short conversation between a boy and a driver was observed.

We take every tip seriously. Therefore the request to the parents:

+ If your child has actually been approached by a stranger and asked to get in, contact the police immediately

+ inform your affected school management or management of the KITA

+ filter the information with regard to its recognizable truth and do not unsettle your children

+ do not further spread unsecured information via social media
