The fact check
Yes, that's right! It's not a fake.
In a press release , the Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) writes the following:
Modern technology for growing challenges
The Federal Office for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BBK) began distributing 306 fire engines worth 223,000 euros each to the federal states in July 2019 as additional equipment. From mid-October, Hesse, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia will be supplied with vehicles. The BBK is therefore particularly pleased to be able to present the new MB Atego 1327 AF fire brigade vehicle for disaster protection (LF-KatS) at the trade fair for fire services, civil defense and disaster control (Florian) in Dresden.

Based on the federal government's conceptual specifications for civil defense, the vehicle was equipped with a structure for firefighting in the event of a civil defense according to a concept developed together with the Rosenbauer company.
Growing challenges for civil protection
In view of the growing challenges for civil protection, such as climate change, the BBK is working hard to procure more vehicles. BBK President Christoph Unger emphasizes the need for ongoing development:
“We all have one goal: We want to protect the population of our country as best as possible. This requires us to constantly adapt and develop. This further development includes modern equipment.
Technology is not a panacea for the tasks at hand, but it enables volunteers and full-time employees in civil defense and disaster control to respond to a wide variety of situations in the best possible way.”
In addition, visitors to the trade fair are offered insights into the BBK's current work. For example, the current issue of the civil protection magazine and the guide for emergency preparedness and correct action in emergency situations provide visitors with information.
Federal emergency information and news app (NINA)
Information about the federal emergency information and news app, or warning app NINA for short, is also available at the BBK stand. Through NINA, around 5.6 million users currently receive important civil protection warnings for various dangerous situations such as the spread of hazardous substances or a major fire - optionally also for their current location.

NINA and the satellite-based modular warning system (MoWaS) are made available to states and municipalities for the purpose of warning in disaster control. Citizens can download NINA free of charge from the Android and iOS app stores.
Nationwide warning day on September 10, 2020
While some federal states have been holding regular warning days for a long time, next year there will be a nationwide warning day for the first time on September 10, 2020.
On this day, all existing warning devices will be tested nationwide. The event, which will take place annually from September 2020, is intended - like the nationwide warning days - to help increase the population's acceptance and knowledge of warnings in emergencies. People should become more aware of the meaning of warning signals as well as recommendations for action on what to do in the event of a warning.
