EDEKA Fake on Facebook: Fraudsters have published a page on Facebook posing as Edeka and offering refrigerators as prizes.
Once again there is deception on Facebook: A Facebook page claims to be Edeka . Not only the name but also the logo of the purchasing cooperative are being misused (reader information: EDEKA is an abbreviation for the original name “Purchasing Cooperative of Colonial Goods Dealers”).
The result: thousands of users take part in this competition. They like, they comment and they are all directed to a link where they have to enter their address. At the end, all that is waiting here is a so-called affiliate, where your own data is released for data trading.

Note: Competitions regularly appear on Facebook and captivate Facebook users. They hope for a really big win but in the end they come away empty-handed. In these cases, only the site operator “wins”. We check competitions for their seriousness! This competition is not serious and deceives the participants. It doesn't meet Facebook's criteria and uses fake elements!
Further information about such competitions can be found in our article “ How fake competitions work on Facebook! " before.

Fake competitions are fake news!
Links to very realistic fake news appear again and again on social media, but also in emails or as cleverly placed advertising banners. Not all fake news is the same. We are dealing with a very rough term that covers (too) many facets and is much more of a catch-all term than a precise categorization.
In this article we will look at a particular phenomenon that appears frequently but is not always immediately recognized: commercial fake news with pseudo-journalistic content.
This form of false news is deliberately false content that is intended to persuade people on the Internet to buy a product, take out a subscription or invest money in speculative models.
