One picture shows two women wearing a vagina costume. With their hands they hold up a sign that says “Welcome to Germany”.

Does this represent an invitation to asylum seekers and migrants? Are such (supposed) welcoming gestures the cause of girl murder and rape? “You shouldn’t really be surprised if some people seeking protection have somewhat idiosyncratic ideas about the availability of unbelieving women.” is the tweet text for a recent publication of this image.

The big question, however, is whether this picture is real in its depiction, and whether these women even come from Germany?

image

We already reported on this image in October 2017 and were able to clearly say back then that this image was manipulated and therefore represented a fake in this form. Apparently this was forgotten again in June 2018, so we repeat it here:

Reverse search

As a quick search shows, the two women in the vagina costume are real, but the sign without Photoshop Claus says something completely different, namely: “ I am woman. “Hear my pussy (…)”. The last term is not shown in its entirety in the pictures, but it probably means “roar”. The origin of the image is the Women's March on Washington , with which women wanted to demonstrate against the inauguration of Donald Trump.

The events on January 21, 2017 also took place in other cities and countries.

image

Numerous women dressed up. The “pussy” was used as a symbol in reference to statements made by the new US President. Most of the time, however, it was only hinted at, often with a pink hat with points on the left and right that suggested cat ears, the so-called pussyhat (in German: kitten hat). The women in the picture, on the other hand, are a little more direct.

This exact image is often used in the form of memes to devalue and laugh at the cause of the Women's March, as well as feminism and the rejection of sexism.

Result

In any case, it has nothing to do with refugees. This is a Photoshop manipulation that includes changed text. FAKE!
