WhatsApp users are currently sending a message that supposedly comes from the “Facebook Team”. If it is sent to 20 contacts, a green tick should turn red...
For what feels like an eternity, chain letters sent via WhatsApp have been appearing again and again. Sometimes it should be the CEO of Facebook, sometimes it should be the team, but the recipient should always have to pay fees if they don't forward the message to so and so many contacts.
Strictly speaking, it is this text, which is very reminiscent of the previous chain letters, but is somewhat different:
Hello dear Whatsapp users!
Here is the Facebook team some time ago we bought Whatsapp and now we want to change everything!
e.g. you can change the fonts in red, green, blue, purple, orange etc.
All you have to do is send this message to 20 contacts
PS: TO NO GROUPS!
But if you don't do this you will pay €0.50 per message from 2020If you sent this message to 20 contacts, the hack would turn red
Tobias: Actually, I don't believe anything like that, but it worked!
Maria: I ignored it and now I have no other fonts and have to pay €00.50 per message
Lukas: Geillllooo it worked
Nina: I only sent it to 12 contacts
Tabea: It worked my font is now blue!!
If you think it doesn't work, it really works!!!
Anna: My font is now pink sooo coolFORWARD!!!!
SENDING BACK IS ALLOWED
A chain letter construct
Like its predecessor with Jim Balsamico , this chain letter is made up of various small fakes. Of course it has no truth. Anyone who knows our overview of the most common WhatsApp chain letters from 2014 knows that all of these components come from all of these chain letters in some form.

In 2012, WhatsApp itself clarified the hoax:
It's a hoax, really.
We've received quite a few emails and questions from you about chain letters distributed on our network:
WhatsApp will soon cost money. The only way to get a free account is if you are a regular user, meaning you chat with at least 10 other users...
Message from Jim Balsamico (CEO of WhatsApp) We have too many users on WhatsApp. We ask all users to forward this message to the entire contact list. If you are not redirected, we will consider your account invalid and it will be deleted within the next 48 hours...
WhatsApp is 10 years old And as a thank you, we'll give you 1 more free year if you send this message to 10 more WhatsApp contacts...
...and other messages that promise you something if you do something specific.
Please note that all of these news are hoaxes and are absolutely not true. We're honored to have made it to Hoax Slayer , but we'd much rather be working on cool new features than uncovering stories like this.
Conclusion:
You see, it's not the first time someone has claimed that some hook or something will change color. But whoever sends the message neither receives a new color nor does it protect them from various fees.

You can still send WhatsApp messages for free and alleged comments from users for whom it worked are simply made up.
Our tip: Break the chain and stop sending the message!
