With an in-app chat-style survey, the instant messaging service WhatsApp wants to collect feedback from users in order to improve existing features and develop new ones, as “Android Police” reports. WhatsApp already does group polls on specific topics and is also in the process of implementing plans to improve bug reporting. But the new chat function should go far beyond that.

Feedback chat via invitation: accept or not

Users of the Service who are asked to participate in these surveys will see an invitation that specifies the purpose of the survey and provides the opportunity to accept or decline it. If you rule out that you are ever interested in participating, you can block the survey account like any other contact in order to avoid all future invitations.

“Do not expect this feedback tool to enable you to request major new features or other radical changes to the structure of the Service.”

Instead, he said, it looks more like a system that could prove useful in A/B testing and other phases of beta development.

Chat is better than long emails

However, for those invited to provide feedback, chat for new business accounts is better than writing long emails and bug reports addressed to WhatsApp support and its developers. The feature was first spotted in development on the iOS app, but given the need for feedback across platforms, it's likely there will be an implementation on Android as well, it says.
