Maybe you know this: You're in a WhatsApp group that you don't actually want to be in. When you leave, there will be a system message - clearly readable for all members - that you have left the group. And then it can happen that it doesn't go down well because other members might take it personally.

Quietly (and secretly) leaving a group

To avoid this, WhatsApp would like to start here and only send this notification that someone is leaving the group to the group admins, reports WABetaInfo . So you have the chance to steal away. This isn't the best option, but it may be a long-awaited feature for some users.

So far so good. However, WhatsApp is planning another feature when it comes to group chats.

List of previous participants in a WhatsApp group

Here WABetaInfo that in a future update there will be the option to expand the list of group participants to include those who were in the group in the past. This way you can keep track of who has left the group.

However, this list seems to be visible to everyone in the group, which makes the previous innovation a little absurd. However, this function is still under development and there may still be adjustments. In any case, WABetaInfo summarized this nicely in a meme:

It is not yet clear when these innovations will find their way to all users. The functions are currently still under development and in the beta phase.
