WhatsApp is discontinuing support for several smartphones with older operating systems.
From December 31, 2019 or February 1, 2020, all Windows Phone users as well as users of older Android and iOS systems will have to say goodbye to WhatsApp: Support will be discontinued and some of the app will then no longer work.
Which operating systems will be affected?
The support outage affects:
- Android versions 2.3.7 and older until February 1, 2020
- iOS 8 and older until February 1, 2020
- all Windows Phone operating systems after December 31, 2019
Are you using one of these operating systems?
According to the WhatsApp FAQ , you can no longer create new accounts or re-verify an existing account on Android and iOS, but you can still use the messenger itself.
Windows Phone users, on the other hand, generally have to do without WhatsApp after December 2019.
