Although WhatsApp is the most popular messenger in the world, it does not have all the functions and options that other messengers offer. However, there is now another new feature.
WhatsApp unlocks companion mode
The messenger has been working on the newly introduced function for a long time. Because WhatsApp was never designed to be usable on multiple devices through a link. The intended use was completely redesigned last year, so that since the end of 2021 it has been possible to link a tablet or a PC with the WhatsApp account.
But it was already clear at that time that Messenger was also working on rolling out the function for a second smartphone. On December 13th, 2022 the time had finally come: the function of being able to use the messenger on two cell phones with just one number has since been available to some users of the beta version .

How do you use the new function?
- If you have a second cell phone, you must first download the WhatsApp app and not enter the number when setting it up. Instead, you can use the settings to establish a connection to the other smartphone on which the app is already set up.
- The connection to the second cell phone must then be activated on this device and the chats will be displayed and synchronized on both devices.
- Together with the linking of devices such as laptops or tablets, the user can now exploit the full potential of WhatsApp with all of their devices.
However, the function is still in the development phase
As already mentioned, not all users have access to the new feature yet. Instead, it is currently only available to some beta testers, as the company will first test and analyze the function in detail in the near future. The main thing is to check whether the devices are linked to each other and the chats are synchronized reliably. After all, all messages have to appear on all devices at the same time if you already have two cell phones and perhaps a tablet and a PC connected.
The messenger is also continuing to work in the background on an app for Android tablets , so that WhatsApp can soon be used optimally there and will be adapted to the screen size. You can stay excited.
