With all the hustle and bustle surrounding the new General Data Protection Regulation, it's understandable that more and more users want to know who collects what from them.
What many people may not have noticed is that you can see exactly this on the Facebook subsidiary WhatsApp: What data does the messenger service collect and store?
To view this, you first have to click on your own “Account” on WhatsApp and then “Request Account Info”:

The report contains information about the current IP connection, the operating system number, all WhatsApp contact numbers and much more.
What you won't find, however, are messages that you have already sent or received. Once you have downloaded the report, you can always access it again!
Knowing which data goes where can be very practical - especially when you have to worry about personalized advertising .
