WhatsApp is aware of everything we share with others through this app.
In the background of the messenger service WhatsApp, it counts when who sent or received which messages. It stands to reason that every user wants to know what data that is. GIGA shows how to do this.
View hidden usage numbers
All you need to do is look at the app settings. To do this, select the “Data and storage usage” option and then “Network usage”. You can see overall statistics of the data sent and received. This is split into various subcategories such as calls, media, messages and others.
WhatsApp – “Data and storage usage” menu on “Storage usage”
If you click on “Storage usage” in the “Data and storage usage” menu, you get an overview of the transmitted data broken down into the respective contacts and groups.

If you select a contact by tapping it, you can see at a glance what content has been shared with them. For example, the number of text messages is displayed, as well as the amount and data size of photos, GIFs, videos, stickers.
Note: Android and iOS
Contacts are listed in Android based on which contacts or groups make up the most memory.
With iOS you have the option to change the sorting, for example according to which contacts are the most important to you. You also have the option to create storage space by tapping on “Free up storage space”. You can then select which specific content (photos, text messages, videos, etc.) should be deleted by checking the box.
