WhatsApp has repeatedly come under criticism for not taking user data protection seriously enough. Facebook recently extended the time window in which messages can be deleted. Now there are further innovations, as Mark Zuckerberg himself reported on Facebook .

The innovations in WhatsApp are: online status, leaving groups and screenshots

  • More control over your online status: Users will soon be able to determine who can see
online status This is an indication of whether you are currently “online”. You will be able to determine who can see whether you are online or not.
  • Group chat exit: You will soon be able to leave WhatsApp groups quietly and secretly. If you leave a group, only the group administrator will be informed about it in the future.
      But not other group members.
  • No screenshots for one-time messages: Screenshots can no longer be created from media content that was only sent one-time viewing Single-view media are images, videos or sound recordings that can only be played once. However, this is currently still being tested.

The features for online status and leaving the group for users should be available as early as August 22nd.
