Be careful of the WhatsApp message with: “Amazon Black Friday 2022”
No matter whether from Lidl, Aldi, Amazon, Edeka, H&M, Ikea, Penny, Rewe or other stores: you should ignore news about alleged voucher competitions! Like the recent WhatsApp message about the Halloween gift baskets from Milka .
The scam has been running for years, always following the same pattern. Above all, the operators want to collect as much data as possible – from you! We doubt whether there are actually vouchers.
A voucher for Rewe, Penny, Lidl, H&M, Amazon, Ikea – or even smartphones or game consoles. If you're quick, you can get them! All you have to do is click on a link. At least that's what it says in the SMS and WhatsApp messages that keep arriving in waves on smartphones and cell phones. You can also find such tempting offers as advertisements on Facebook or other websites.
Just like the current email that allegedly came from Amazon about Black Friday 2022

Danger! There is no promotional gift hidden behind the supposed competition, which did NOT come from AMAZON, but rather, the recipient is looking for user data or may be waiting for the recipient either an expensive subscription trap or, in the worst case, a Trojan!
If you tap on the link, you have to answer different questions. In the end you would have won an Apple iPhone 13 Pro 256 GB. Now you “just” have to forward the information to 20 WhatsApp contacts.

Once you have “blessed” your 20 friends, there is a competition form waiting for you, which in the end is only about one thing, and that is COLLECTING USER DATA! These records are then resold for a lot of money and the participant is bombarded with spam emails and dubious calls, etc.

This is how the stitch works:
- You receive a WhatsApp message from someone who is already in your contact list.
- You are asked to fill out a survey on a site that looks deceptively similar to the Amazon site.
- You are promised a fabulous win, in this case an Apple iPhone 13 Pro 256 GB.
- A competition form is then waiting for the user, where they have to enter their personal data
The fact is: This competition did not come from Amazon. This is purely about collecting personal data! These are ultimately sold for a profit. Ultimately, this data ends up in a database, which then hangs around on the internet for years. The user can no longer get out of this cycle,
Also read the information directly on Amazon about : “There are a variety of scams that ask people to make payments by email, phone or SMS for items or services. Scammers use a variety of methods to carry out their scams, including asking you to pay with gift cards from well-known companies. We want to make sure our customers are aware of scams that may ask them to make payments using Amazon.de gift cards.”
