The claim
The WHO director is said to have been arrested by Interpol
Our conclusion
The report comes from a well-known fake news site that mixes real reports with satire and fake news, but the WHO director has not been demonstrably arrested.
In this country, it is relatively easy to recognize satire and fake news sites (even if many people overlook the clear “satire” clues). However, it is different with foreign language sites like the Vancouver Times, because this fake news site also contains real articles copied from other sites - including the claim that the WHO director was arrested for crimes against humanity, not heard!
The claim
The claim is spread mostly as a screenshot, but also as a German-language article:

A German-language site known for false news (archived HERE ) also spreads the claim and relies as a source on the “Vancouver Times” mentioned above and visible in the screenshot (archived HERE ).

Accordingly, WHO Director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was arrested by Interpol and is now in prison for crimes against humanity and genocide.
Mistake #1: The date
The Vancouver Times article appeared on July 24. It would have been wiser to always adjust the date to the current day, because just one day later, on July 25, the WHO director made a public statement on World Drowning Prevention Day (see HERE ).
Mistake #2: Jurisdiction
Supposedly the WHO director was arrested by Interpol - which is not possible at all. As Interpol itself writes on their website (see HERE ), they can only issue so-called “Red Notices”, i.e. warn the police of various countries about internationally wanted fugitives, but they themselves do not carry out any arrests or issue arrest warrants.
This means that an arrest by Interpol is not possible at all. It is an intergovernmental organization to strengthen cooperation between national police authorities, but not an authority with such powers.
Mistake #3: The Source
We have already encountered fake news from the “Vancouver Times” in the past:
- Pfizer's Vice President Wasn't Arrested!
- Justin Bieber's facial paralysis: Vaccine damage claim comes from satirical site!
The site often labels its articles as satire; articles such as those about the alleged arrest of the WHO director use special phrases such as “ The mainstream media and big tech want to hide the truth ”.
But a look at the menu item “Details” (see HERE ), which was previously called “Abous Us”, reveals a little more:
“The Vancouver Times is the West Coast's most trusted source of satire. We write satirical stories about issues that affect conservatives.”
Source: Vancouver Times
According to its own information, it is a satirical site whose articles are intended to particularly outrage conservatives.
Conclusion
The original article comes from a site that is known for mixing real news copied from other sites with the most outrageous fake news possible in order to give itself a more reputable appearance.
These articles are often labeled as satire, but in this case this was avoided and instead illogical statements (“Interpol arrested the WHO director”) and exaggerated language were used - which, however, is apparently too subtle for certain circles.
