You would like to say it directly to each of the more than half a million people sharing: Fortunately, the woman in the video was convicted many years ago!

Of course this video is shocking: a woman sits on a sofa. Next to her is a small child. For no apparent reason, the child throws up and the woman then completely freaks out. She throws the child to the ground, hits the defenseless child, stands on the small body, even kicks it.

This horrific scene is not fake. The child was 18 months old at the time the video was recorded, and the woman next to him is the family's nanny. The whole thing happened in November 2014 in Uganda and was captured on the house's indoor surveillance camera.

The woman (Jolly Tumuhiirwe, 22) was subsequently sentenced to four years in prison. The video also sparked outrage around the world. Tumuhiirwe testified in court in the Ugandan capital Kampala that the attack was revenge after she was beaten by the child's mother. The mother denied hitting her and previous charges of abuse were dropped.

Judge Lillian Buchan said it was an “unjustified and inexcusable” crime. She also said the sentence was appropriate given the "recklessness" towards an "innocent, helpless child." ( Compare: BBC report )

Over 500,000 shares

The video once again had an enormous reach: over half a million people shared the video within 5 days and called for people to find the woman. An enormous reach for a call that is no longer necessary.
