After the scandals of 2018, only about one in two employees are looking positively into the future
Menlo Park (pte002/11/16/2018/06:05) – The mood among employees at Facebook has fallen by around 32 percent this year after the data scandals. According to a “Wall Street Journal” report, only one in two employees of the largest social network is optimistic about the future. The data comes from Facebook’s twice-yearly “Pulse Survey”.
Dwindling pride
The approximately 29,000 employees surveyed plan to stay with the company for an average of only 3.9 years - a decrease of around 0.4 years compared to the previous survey last year. After the numerous data scandals in 2018, only 52 percent see the future of the company positively. In 2017, 84 percent were optimistic.
53 percent believe that Facebook can make the world a better place. This is a significant decrease from 72 percent in 2017. Only 70 percent of employees are proud to work at Facebook, compared to 87 percent who said this last year. This has a significant influence on whether you want to stay with the group in the long term. Around twelve percent of employees want to stay with the company for less than a year.
Internal turmoil
According to the report, many employees are frustrated by the ongoing turmoil in the company's upper echelons and the declining stock price. “It has been a difficult time, but every day we see people coming together to learn from the mistakes of the past year and build a stronger company,” said a Facebook spokeswoman. “Everyone at Facebook has a stake in our future, and we work to deliver great products and protect the people who use them.”
