Do you know Snapchat? Snapchat is a messenger where images and messages can only be “snapped”.

Mimikama: Warning about...

The “gimmick” with Snapchat is that the images are visible to the recipients for a certain number of seconds. After that, the messages “destruct themselves” and users without much technical knowledge no longer have the opportunity to view the images. You can think it's great, but you don't have to.

The messenger is therefore aimed at a younger audience. We won't go into security gaps and criticisms of Snapchat at this point, but rather the fake Facebook page and the associated iPhone raffle.

Snapchat Germany

The real Snapchat page on Facebook has 5,300,605 fans, apparently reason enough to imitate this page and get a piece of the cake. That's why there is a site called “Snapchat Germany”, which shines with a single status message: an iPhone competition.

This event even has a participation description:

The first 5,000 participants will receive an iPhone 6s.
All you have to do is follow these 3 steps:
1. Participate and invite 150 friends.
2. Like this page:
www.facebook.com/G[…]i
3. Like this page:
http://facebook.com/e[…]o
The lucky winners will be announced on October 30, 2015.

Ok, so let's summarize at this point:

  • A site that calls itself Snapchat Germany, but is not Snapchat, is creating an iPhone competition.
  • The rules say you should invite friends and like two pages.
  • Winners will supposedly be announced on October 30, 2015

Yes, good!

This “event” is less than 24 hours old, but over 40,000 people have already been invited, almost 2,500 even admit that they are taking part and are dutifully liking and inviting friends. You can even read this as a comment:

On the other hand, you also read skeptical words - and rightly so, because a missing imprint, no information about the organizer and a fake organizer page clearly give cause for doubt.

We will wait

October 30, 2015 isn't long away. Even if we strongly assume that 5,000 smartphones will not be raffled off here, or if you quibble with words, 5,000 people will have to share an iPhone, we are curious to see what the resolution will be on October 30th. will look like.
