There are times when you just believe everything you see - especially in the world of social media. A frightening video is making the rounds: people are fighting violently in a residential area. The rumor quickly spread that it was in Würzburg.
One video, many claims: “Würzburg”
This video went viral, and very quickly. The scene: A violent exchange of blows in the middle of the street.
The question that concerns many: Where the hell did this happen? With Würzburg in the headlines, it was all too easy for many to pick up the thread and claim: “That’s Würzburg!”
The video doesn't lie - just the people
As is often the case, there is a twist. The scenes in the video did not take place in Würzburg, but far away in Stuttgart. Five days before it went viral, the video was shot on a street that can be easily identified via Google Maps.
Eritrean conflicts in Germany?
Yes, you read that right. The conflict that looks so explosive in the video actually has its roots in Eritrea. But what are Eritrean political conflicts doing in the middle of Stuttgart? It is a reflection of a deeper problem that also found expression in Giessen.
“All suspects have Eritrean citizenship or are German with Eritrean roots. Investigations are being initiated against 228 suspects on suspicion of breach of the peace, serious breach of the peace, physical assault, damage to property and bodily harm as well as grievous bodily harm and theft. The Stuttgart police have set up the Asmara investigation group to investigate the crimes.”

Why it affects us all
Hoaxes are more than just viral hits. They can tear communities apart, fuel misconceptions and ultimately lead to real violence. It is essential to look carefully and familiarize yourself with the facts before clicking the share button.
Conclusion
In a time where information circulates at the speed of light, it is our duty to remain vigilant. The video from Stuttgart not only shows a conflict that began thousands of kilometers away, but also the dangers of misinformation in our connected world. Before we share, we must question. Because in the end, it's not the videos or photos that are deceiving - but the stories we spin around them.
