“Thanks Zara!” – that’s how it reads in the news stream. Many users spread the message on a voucher in anticipation. But what awaits them will be annoying advertising calls, unwanted emails or a carelessly taken out subscription.

Because here an old friend strikes again: anyone who reads the conditions and contact details will see that it is not the fashion label ZARA that is behind the competition , but an old friend: Proleagion GmbH.

Note August 1st, 2022: According to information provided to us, Proleagion GmbH has no longer been conducting competitions since the end of 2016.
We haven't noticed the company as a competition organizer since then. According to current knowledge, ZARA's currently circulating apparent competitions have no connection with Proleagion GmbH.

The process

Facebook users discover a message in their news stream with a lovely thank you to the ZARA label, which also includes an invitation to get one of the few ZARA vouchers themselves. Nothing could be easier than that – the other vouchers are just a click away.

It is suggested here without any scruples that the fashion label ZARA is giving away vouchers. In order to benefit from such credit, you should carry out 2 steps and provide your contact details.

Unfortunately, you have to FIRST become a distributor of this nonsense in order to be able to get the alleged voucher. However, this ensures that the organizer is assured that his report will be voluntarily shared and commented on on social networks. And that too with the positive statement “Thank you!”

So if you have shared and commented, you will be taken to another page. Now the real “fun” begins: the personal data must be entered.

In the first instance it is “just” your name and email address. Please note: brands are used here to advertise, thus creating a pseudo-legitimation of this competition.

Every time you click on “next” another page opens where you have to reveal even more data. Address, birthday, interests... every now and then a ready-made advertising form pops up, which has absolutely nothing to do with the alleged voucher...

….. and that you should close it. All the forms go so far that you have to fill out a long questionnaire at the end. Practical: you essentially voluntarily create a user profile of yourself, which others can then make money from.

And if you sleep a little at the end, you can take out a subscription. Congratulations! Only Proleagion GmbH will be happy, hardly anyone else.

Proleagion – again…

A look at the imprint reveals the organizer: Proleagion GmbH. This also clearly states in its terms and conditions that participation in the “game” is only possible with the release of the data. In the event of cancellation, the possibility of any winnings will also expire.

In plain language:

Please note that revoking your advertising consent for the purpose of participating in the competition will result in you losing your chance of winning.

Damage on all fronts

In addition to the users who are only lured and listened to, the fashion label ZARA also suffers damage to its image. In a phone call with the company's marketing department, they said they were “not amused” about such competitions. In this telephone call we also asked for a short statement about how the fashion label feels about these competitions and the use of the brand for them.

We were a little quicker in writing this article, so this statement has not yet been received. We will include it upon receipt.

So be careful of alleged vouchers

We are NOT dealing with the first voucher competition here, there are already several variants online:

DM vouchers
Rewe vouchers
Amazon vouchers
h&m vouchers
Lidl vouchers
Audi competition

and there may be more of these games to come.
