The claim

Zelensky is said to be demanding 400 euros a month from every German, and the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin is also demanding compulsory military service for Germans between the ages of 16 and 68.

Our conclusion

The article about Zelensky and his demand for 400 euros a month from every German never existed. It is a fake by changing the (local) source code of the page.

Do you know what rational people do? You are asking for a source for a claim. But there are also people who proudly call themselves “self-thinking” but who, without any doubt, believe an article photographed on a monitor without any source information about Zelensky, which supposedly demands 400 euros a month from every German - even if absolutely no one else reports about it .

Zelensky's alleged demand

The photo of the fake item is being shared on social media:

Accordingly, Zelensky is demanding “ 400 euros in monthly donations to the Ukrainian people ” so that “ the government can increase war morale and materials in order to drive the Russians out of Donbass .” In addition, the Ukrainian ambassador in Berlin is calling for “ compulsory military service for every German between the ages of 16 and 68, as the Nazis must be repelled .”

Looking for sources

Important if you want to rush with fake evidence: under no circumstances cite a source! It's not important at all, because in the relevant circles, everything that somehow fits into their own narrative is believed.

However, we are interested in the source, so we go looking for clues. In the photo you can see that “ We are independent and want… ” is written above the article. To the right of the article is a photo whose signature begins The Ukrainian Under the article it says dpa/lex August 8, 2022 – 11:32 p.m. “.

With these tips we can start the search... which we'll just abbreviate now so as not to bore you with search details. However, the result is an article from the Berliner Zeitung (see HERE ) that has all of the above features!

The real article about Zelensky
The real article about Zelenskyj, source: Berliner Zeitung

In the real article, Zelenskyj is not demanding 400 euros, but rather an international travel ban for Russians.

Counterfeiter sport “Change source code”

We come across this method of forgery again and again (for example HERE , HERE and HERE ): Using relatively simple means (which we will of course not explain here) it is possible to change the source code of a page locally on the PC in order to then be able to use it take a screenshot of the changed page or take a photo of it.

Such fakes can be detected, for example, by checking whether the real page has been changed in the past (can be seen in the source code) or whether there are archive versions of the article, for example with archive.ph or cachedpages.com, which might contain one have different content.

And then of course also checking other sources: Zelensky is said to have requested this as early as August 8th, but not a single media reported about it? So there is either a huge conspiracy between all media outlets... or it is simply a fake!

Conclusion

The article about Zelensky and his demand for 400 euros a month from every German never existed. It is a fake by changing the (local) source code of the site, but the original article reports a demand for a travel ban for Russians.
