Advent hasn't even started yet when it's already popping up again: the Zipfelmännchen discussion.
We are again receiving inquiries about the Zipfelmännchen. A photo of the Douceur hollow chocolate figures enrages one or two Facebook users every year. We have been reporting on the Zipfelmann for years. He is often portrayed as the “chocolateized Islamization” – because “his name is Nicholas or Santa Claus!”
It always comes back to this picture:

Ruhrpott wisdom
Nicholas or Santa Claus
The fact check
Interestingly, the chocolate figures shown are actually Santa Claus. You can buy this treat at Penny.
As colleague Andre explained in 2017 , what can be read as the Zipfelmännchen belongs to the bottom plate of the box ABOVE Santa Claus. If you look closely at the bottom part of the photo, you can easily read the description “Santa Claus”.

Every year, Santa Claus is confused with the Zipfelmann!
Penny explained to Mimikama in 2015 that this little man is not Santa Claus 2.0 and that this does NOT replace the Santa Claus figure. In other words: there were/are 2 variants in the range. On the one hand, the Zipfelmännchen pictured and on the other hand, Santa Claus:
Good day,
Some of you are still confused about our Zipfelmännchen.
To get to the point:
The Zipfelmännchen is not Santa Claus 2.0!
The Zipfelmännchen is a hollow chocolate figure without any political and/or religious statements. Just like cookies, chocolate chips or chips, they are just one facet of our extensive range.
The Zipfelmännchen does not replace the Santa Claus figures.
That's how it is and it stays that way. If you read or hear anything else, it's nonsense. As proof: The Zipfelmännchen has been with us for two years. During these two years there were always the Santa Claus chocolate hollow figures. So no need to worry. Santa Claus is not retiring.
Kind regards,

This raises the question: what does he actually look like? The Zipfelmann?
The Zipfelmann is available in blue, pink and white and rainbow colors:

Unfortunately, Penny's Facebook post is no longer available today, but it has often caused media uproar . Penny's answer to various shitstorms towards the Zipfelmann was the Rainbow Zipfelmann, which was brought onto the market in 2017.

But let's say again - the Zipfelmann is available to buy IN ADDITION to the classic Santa Claus. So it's not the same product.
Note on the rainbow variant
The Rainbow Zipfelmann's motto is “Love – Peace – Joy”. The rainbow does not show the flag of the LGBT movement - which only has 6 colors - but represents the peace movement with 7 colors.

Conclusion
For years, the Penny Santa Claus has been confused with the Penny Zipfelmann. It has been causing conflict again and again for years.
By the way, Penny Germany responded to hate posts and positive feedback in the same way: a rainbow GIF with a heart and Penny logo.
