Caution should always be exercised when reporting missing persons without a police report. It has often been shown in the past that some people do not want to be searched at all, while for others no search was published for investigative reasons.

Over time, we have therefore developed a rule for ourselves that we only publish reports that have been confirmed and approved by the police. Yesterday (July 11, 2016) a search report for a 15-year-old girl was published on RTLnext, for which we initially could not find a police report [ 1].

Mike Sachs, our contact with the police and authorities, contacted the police and asked what the report was about. The PD Görlitz press office responded:

It can be confirmed that the 15y.
Linda from Pulsnitz is missing. The parents noticed her disappearance on July 3, 2016 and immediately filed a missing person report. Previous investigations have shown that the girl was already on a Lufthansa plane from Frankfurt am Main to Istanbul on July 1, 2016. An international search was announced for the girl. The current background to the disappearance is still unclear. According to the current state of the investigation, a connection to IS cannot be confirmed.

The following information was also published in the Sächsische Zeitung [2]:

The girl's parents reported her missing - with the suspicion that she apparently wanted to join the so-called Islamic State (IS). However, the police are not taking part in this speculation, according to press spokesman Thomas Sprunk.
