A new text, an old claim that we have already reported on several times: Does Facebook only show the posts of 25 friends due to a new algorithm?

The following new text is now diligently copied and posted:

Literally:

“It’s crazy how that worked!
After I shared this with all my friends, my newsfeed showed a whole bunch of new posts from my friends. I never realized how many posts weren't shown before. Here's how to avoid hearing from the same 26 FB friends and no one else.
This post explains why we don't see all of our friends' posts. Funny, thought if I followed you on Facebook I would see what you post. Not anymore ??♀️ Your news feed recently only shows posts from the same few people, about 25, the same ones over and over again because Facebook has a new algorithm.
??♀️ Your system selects the people who will read your post.
However, I would like to decide for myself, so I'm asking you all for a favor - If you read this message, leave me a quick comment, a "hello", a sticker, whatever you want to appear in my messages feed! ️ Otherwise, Facebook chooses who shows me this and I don't need Facebook to choose my friends!
? Don't hesitate to copy and paste on your wall so you can have more interaction with all your contacts and bypass the system.
That's why we don't see all the posts from our friends Thanks for the brains from those who have already copied and pasted above.
Hold your finger anywhere in this post and “copy” will appear. Click “Copy.” Then go to your page, start a new post on your page and put your finger anywhere in the empty field. “Insert” will appear and click Insert. Thank you"

Is this claim true?

The message itself is based on the fact that Facebook announced that in the future it would show more about friends and less about entrepreneurs in the News Feed .

It cannot be confirmed whether this is really true because no one knows how the Facebook algorithm works. Therefore, the stated status contribution represents only a guess, an assumption, an assertion.

Facebook itself made the following statement Washington Post

“We organize the news feed based on which posting might be relevant to the user. Although we have made some adjustments that may increase the number of visible posts from friends, the News Feed is not limited to 25 contacts.”

“We will predict which posts you might want to interact with your friends about, and show these posts higher in feed. These are posts that inspire back-and-forth discussion in the comments and posts that you might want to share and react to — whether that's a post from a friend seeking advice, a friend asking for recommendations for a trip, or a news article or video prompting lots of discussion.”

Facebook also explicitly emphasizes that the number 25 has no relevance whatsoever. Contrary to the claim in the status report, according to Facebook, the news stream is not limited to 25 people.

However, questions remain unanswered:

“We arrange the news feed according to which posting might be relevant to the user”…

The only question now is what Facebook means by that and this is exactly where the problem lies, because nobody knows the Facebook algorithm!

What should you do now?

Nothing. Just continue to interact with your friends, pages and groups the way you do now and don't let an alleged algorithm confuse you.

Another option would be to click on your friends' profiles and make various settings for each one, such as whether you would like to receive a “notification” (1) from the person when they post something new or whether it is a “close friend”. (2) or whether it is a “friend” (3) or you can also set here that you receive posts from this person, e.g. “Shown first” (4).

You can also divide your friends and the pages you follow into lists. Every Facebook user can find their lists here: https://www.facebook.com/bookmarks/lists/

This has two advantages.

On the one hand, you can then access lists directly and then, for example, only those posts from “close friends” etc. or you can then publish status posts that are perhaps only intended for “acquaintances” but not for the rest of the friends list. You can find this setting for every status post that you want to publish:

You have it in your own hands!

Whether the status post is a chain letter, a hoax, half-knowledge or the truth, it is up to you what you want to see from someone or not.
