Erfurt - A federal police patrol noticed a 55-year-old German in the waiting room of Erfurt main station in the early hours of the morning.

The man's right hand was bandaged. When asked, he stated that he had torn off his ring finger on June 13th while climbing over a fence at the old railway post office, not far from the main train station.

The finger had been found by chance by a passer-by the day before. He informed the state police about his discovery, who then wanted to search the area with several officers today.

The 55-year-old was treated as an inpatient at the Erfurt Helios Clinic immediately after his accident. Two days ago he went to the scene of the incident to get his ring back. The finger and ring were still on the fence. He took his ring and left his finger behind, which was then found by the passerby. After the story about the finger was explained in this way, the search measures planned for today could be canceled.
