Letters from Proex Inkasso GmbH are currently unsettling many users. The sender demands several hundred euros.

As the Schleswig-Holstein consumer advice center warns, the alleged debt collection company Proex Inkasso GmbH is relying on an alleged service contract with competition providers. Apparently there is an attempted fraud behind this. Those affected can ignore the demands.

The consumers contacted are said to have registered by telephone with “Top 100 competitions / Eurojackpot 49”.

“You have agreed to the paid service with your personal data and have not yet paid the amount for our client’s service,”

the letter says. Listed are receivables and reminder costs, which amount to several hundred euros. Recipients will be asked to transfer the amount to an account with a French IBAN. The sender of the letter is “Dr. Michael Kunt, lawyer,” stated.

Typical debt collection rip-off

“Apparently this is a typical case of debt collection rip-off, which we unfortunately see on a regular basis,”

says Dr. Boris Wita, consumer law consultant.

“Proex Inkasso GmbH is not listed with the Federal Association of German Debt Collection Companies.”

In addition, the account details abroad and many spelling errors in the letter indicate that there is no legitimate claim behind it.

Check payment requests online for free

Such payment requests often put the recipients under enormous pressure. This often involves the threat of legal proceedings, garnishment of wages and salaries or other forms of compulsory enforcement. The letter from Proex debt collection states:

“Your account will be blocked shortly. You will then no longer have access.”

Many people feel pressured by such methods to pay without being sure whether the claim is legitimate. With our debt collection check, those affected can have their debt collection claim checked online free of charge.

You will find out whether you have to pay and whether the full amount of the costs is due. The service includes an initial legal assessment and, if necessary, a sample letter to dispute the claim.

Excessive demands and illegal methods

There are many dubious providers in the debt collection industry who make exaggerated demands and use illegal methods. Our investigation shows the reasons for the grievances.

“In Germany there is no effective supervision of debt collection companies. In addition, there is a lack of state-controlled cost and behavioral rules for providers,”

said the lawyer. We are committed to introducing central debt collection supervision to protect consumers from rip-off methods.

Contact person for those affected
