The BSI therefore urgently advises users of Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016/2019 to immediately install the software update provided by Microsoft .
BSI President Arne Schönbohm points out the importance of security updates:
We all enjoy the advantages of digital processes, we use online banking, we shop online, we control electronic devices via app and we benefit from digital processes in business and administration. The further this digitalization goes, the more dependent we are on functioning and trustworthy systems. Therefore, dealing with vulnerabilities in these systems is essential for the success of digitalization. The wave of attacks with the Wannacry malware in 2017 showed the consequences that vulnerabilities can have. Manufacturers are called upon to avoid weak points in their products from the outset through appropriate quality assurance. If weak points emerge, they must be closed as quickly as possible. Users are encouraged to install existing security updates as quickly as possible.
