Many Internet users are currently contacting us and want to know whether the following email, which supposedly came from [email protected] , is a FAKE:

The subject of the email: “Your account has expired”

image

NOTE: The email is usually NOT recognized as SPAM or JUNK email because it is not a TEXT email, but a whole image.
IN ADVANCE: The email did not come from WhatsApp but from cybercriminals who want to use this scam to spy on personal account data

The user is informed in this email that his WhatsApp account has expired and that he must “renew” it immediately.

To do this he has to follow a link called “Renew your WhtasApp Messenger!

BUT BE CAREFUL!

This is a fake. This email did NOT come from WHATSAPP but from cybercriminals who want to use this scam to spy on personal account details!

After clicking, the user lands on the following website, which one might think was actually from WhatsApp.

If you were to enter your ACCOUNT DETAILS here, they would immediately end up in the hands of the fraudsters. The user is then redirected directly to WhatsApp Messenger.

For the user it seems as if everything is correct, which unfortunately is not true.
