Mettmann - On Wednesday, August 2, 2017, around 4:40 p.m., a 43-year-old employee of the ADAC breakdown service on Wolfhagener Straße in Richrath was seriously injured while doing his work.

The man wanted to help an 83-year-old Mercedes driver who had broken down near house number 16 with an engine failure and parked his ADAC vehicle directly in front of the Mercedes.
The road patrol driver then stood between the two vehicles while he was working on the engine block. When the 83-year-old started the engine as instructed, the Mercedes “jumped” forward with a sudden jerk and trapped the 43-year-old between the two cars. The man was able to free himself, but then fell to the ground and remained there with serious injuries. He received emergency medical treatment on site and was then taken to hospital in an ambulance. There was minor damage to the two vehicles.
