Report from a user on Twitter

Apparently the image contains incorrect data that causes the crash. A user reported on Twitter that editing the colors probably eliminates the unwanted effect. It can therefore be assumed that incorrect color coding could be the cause. Samsung devices are affected.

However, the error can also be reproduced on Google Pixel devices with this image. So – in conjunction with this picture – it should be located directly on Android.

solution to avoid

Samsung was informed about this problem in mid-May and has fixed the error. The solution will be rolled out with the next update.

Until then (or in general), you should refrain from setting images from the Internet as your screen background.
