Crizpy: Let's put social media where it's most fun.

Apocalyptic mood in the streets of Kiev: Because an underground pipe for district heating in the Ukrainian capital broke, several cars collapsed on the washed-out asphalt road. Wafts of fog over the road made the apocalyptic scene perfect. The burst pipe caused traffic chaos in the center of Kiev. Many bus routes were rerouted during the evening rush hour.

It was not the first time that roads in the metropolis of three million people had collapsed after a pipe burst. Kiev's infrastructure largely dates back to Soviet times and is considered dilapidated. Since the beginning of autumn and the associated drop in temperatures, the district heating systems have been put back into operation. Hot water flows through underground pipes and is used to heat the apartments.
