What do our pharmacists actually allow themselves to do? Out of pure greed for money, they withhold valuable and helpful natural preparations that are absolutely safe and proven thousands of times over. Among other things, they are supposed to hide a cheap remedy for joint pain. If you follow the link, which was also published as a “sponsored post”, you will come to a page with a kind of federal eagle emblazoned on it. Next to it is the Federal Ministry of Health , which gives the impression of being a ministry website , but it is not.

The original ministry also has the corresponding website, which www.bundesgesundheitsministerium.de and then leads us to the Federal Ministry of Health. Confusing, yes, but no more confusing than a “ BBC-Health.info ” site that pretends to direct us to the Federal Ministry of Health.

Do they know what their name is being misused for here? But what is interesting is that a website with an English name leads us in Germany to the website of the German ministry. Who is supposed to believe that? In Austria, the page leads to the Austrian counterpart, the “Federal Ministry of Health and Women”, otherwise the page looks completely the same.

Two products are compared with each other. Apparently both are pain gels. At least one of these should be well known to most readers, but the cream in the can is less so, but the authors of the site are trying to change that. Yes, they have to; After all, they're just clarifying things and saving us from the pharmacists, this villainous gang. After the comparison table, the advertised product is presented in more detail; it is based on bee products, more on that later.

Depending on the country website, it was subjected to clinical tests either at the University of Innsbruck or the University Hospital of Aachen - however, a search for the product in connection with the two universities remains unsuccessful. The question is then raised as to what is happening in Germany.

It's quite easy to figure out which city it is in the Austrian version - Vienna. In Germany, however, it will be difficult: the city is a city. Was there any coding here so that the city cannot be recognized? No, it says Gorod, Russian for “city”, so it’s probably a placeholder that wasn’t assigned a city in the German version, or something went wrong with the assignment. So Mr. Walter Brandstädter is the owner of a large chain of pharmacies both in Vienna and in... err... city.
However, there is a small problem, really just a tiny one: There is no Walter Brandstädter who owns a pharmacy. But we don't let that deter us, after all we are presented with a picture of a really serious-looking man, which is definitely this Brandstadt resident. Hasso Böcker, wonderful - a name that has certainly caused a stir in the professional world, a luminary in his field, there is certainly no way around him. But here too we fail in the search engines – no Professor Hasso Böcker, no rheumatologist Hasso Böcker. What's that supposed to mean? How could he have said anything about this product? But we have his picture. If we look for the picture on the Internet, we already have the Hasso - or not. In 2012, the same image was used on the website of the “Institut Coeur Paris Center” in the entry for Dr. Meddane Mohamed. ( Source )
So there is certainly justification for assuming that the gentleman in the white coat is the same Dr. Mohamed acts. Therefore, he can hardly be the Professor Böcker who was introduced and quoted in detail. Shouldn't the picture be of Dr. Mohamed, then in all probability it is not Prof. Böcker, as the picture can also be found on other pages (the one of Dr. Mohamed being the first). Of course, this could also be a placeholder, but in contrast to the alleged Prof. Böker, who we cannot find anywhere, we find the cardiologist Dr. Meddane Mohamed in the Paris phone book. ( Source )
If you now follow the underlying page, you will come to a page where the development of the product is described in Russian and how great it is. The page itself presents itself as part of the “Goltsman Therapy Medical Center” from Tallinn. ( Source )
However, you can only get to the page behind it with a trick: every link you click on is on the regular Goltsman Therapy page, for example to another employee would only take us from the present “BBC Health” page to the manufacturer’s order page.
It is at least doubtful whether the Goltsman Therapy operators are really the operators of this strange site. Now about the product itself: It looks like it's really not available in German or Austrian pharmacies, but maybe it can still be purchased there.
We just didn't initially find it in the online pharmacies we visited, but the local pharmacies are quite flexible. The product is a propolis product - propolis is a bee resin and has antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiviral and wound healing effects. It was already used in ancient Egypt, among other things, for the embalming of mummies for preservation. In “medicine” – or better: in health-related applications – propolis can be used in a variety of ways, but that somehow results from the properties mentioned above. Old Mr. Kneipp also knew that honey, which also contains some propolis, is healthy. Although he was a strict anti-alcoholic, he still recommended mead as health-promoting, in moderation of course.

So why are there no propolis products in Austrian or German pharmacies?

There is.
Just not the cream preferred on the website. Why not? Maybe it simply hasn't been approved in Germany and Austria yet or you want to work with the outrage of health-conscious people and use a subtle conspiracy theory to persuade them to buy the small doses. Unfortunately, the order page is in Russian... My order would fail there at the latest, as I would like to read through what I am ordering, how and under what conditions. All in all, a site that uses fictional people and quotes to bring a product to those interested in buying it. We cannot judge conclusively whether the product ultimately does what it promises, because who says that the positive reviews given were all made by real people and did not come from the same pen as the quotes from Walter Brandstädter and Hasso Böcker?

A product is advertised on Facebook using “sponsored posts”. To make this product more credible, various landing pages were created. Depending on the country (Germany, Austria,…), the user is shown a different website, always that of the respective federal ministry. However, these websites were fake and do NOT come from the respective ministries. Furthermore, experts were also named who were not experts at all and were deliberately misquoted. We don’t exactly say “stay away”, but we do say: be careful and always “think first – then click”.
