Hamburg – “Due to investigations by the financial control of illegal employment at the Hamburg-City Main Customs Office, it was proven that a 53-year-old Hamburg resident had wrongly received unemployment benefit II from the Altona West job center for over a year,” said press spokesman Oliver Bachmann. “In three corresponding applications, he failed to mention that he was also employed on a part-time basis.”

The Hamburg-Blankenese district court considered it proven that the confessed defendant had committed a criminal offense in these three cases of fraud in accordance with Section 263 of the Criminal Code and sentenced him to a total prison sentence of eight months. The execution of the prison sentence was suspended. The judgment is final.

The man still has to pay back the wrongly received amount of just over 2,000 euros.
