According to reports in several British newspapers, an attempt was made to assassinate Chancellor Angela Merkel.

If the online presence analogo.de is to be believed, this report is said to have been largely suppressed in the German press.

A black Mercedes SUV drove head-on towards the state convoy in which Chancellor Merkel was driving from the airport towards the city center at the start of her state visit.

The car was distracted by the security officers in James Bond style. The article also quotes Deutsche Wirtschaftsnachrichten as saying that the man tried to force parts of the convoy off the road and that he was stopped under the threat of armed force, Czech police spokesman Josef Bocan is quoted as saying.
