Espelkamp - A VW driver drove his car into the brick porch of a house in Frotheim on Tuesday evening.
Despite the force of the collision, he did not suffer any injuries. The front of the house was completely destroyed. According to witnesses, it is suspected that the man from Kirchlengern was overtired at the wheel. The emergency services estimated the material damage at around 20,000 euros.
At around 9.40 p.m., the 41-year-old was driving his VW Golf with a trailer on Diepenauer Straße coming from the direction of Hille. In Frotheim, the street below - which has a stop sign - meets Mindener Straße and the continuing Diepenauer Straße. Without stopping, the man first drove across the street, then the sidewalk over the driveway and a small garden wall and crashed into the porch of the house opposite.
At the time of the accident, a resident of the house was sitting directly near the window where the car came to a stop. The shock of the collision was so severe that he sustained a minor injury.
