Freiburg - On Saturday, September 2, 2017, around 5:45 p.m., a Peugot 206 was driving west on Tullastrasse and turned right onto Hans-Bunte-Strasse at too high a speed.
There he collided with a traffic island.
There were no occupants in the vehicle when police arrived. A short time later, the address of the vehicle owner was checked. Although the owner denied that he was driving the car, based on witness statements and other evidence, it is assumed that he was behind the wheel at the time of the accident.
The passenger was probably his 9-year-old daughter.
Both were slightly injured. It was also discovered that the man no longer had a driving license due to a previous traffic offense. A breath alcohol test revealed a clear level of alcoholization, which corresponded to a blood alcohol concentration of more than 2 per mille.
The Freiburg traffic police have taken over the accident investigation.
A blood sample was taken from the person suspected of causing the accident and will be evaluated by forensic medicine.
It is being investigated for drunk driving, hit and run, driving without a license and bodily harm. Before the traffic accident, the vehicle had probably been driving in an erratic manner in Freiburg for a long time and could possibly have caused further damage.
