A creepy photo is being spread on social media: The photo shows a baby hidden in a side of beef.

Children and babies are particularly sensitive topics on social media. Therefore, the reactions to a particular photo are quite strong. A website describes the following story about this picture:

It is supposedly a picture from a child trafficking operation. Content about child trafficking in particular is currently being disseminated more frequently and is associated with the Adrenochrome narrative ( compare ).

This baby was allegedly found in a beef truck with 19 others. Apparently the truck was stopped by Mexican authorities for a routine inspection at a checkpoint. The driver stated that he was transporting meat for a food company. The children are said to have been found during the check.

The text of the article ( archived HERE ) is from March 2019.

Fact check: Baby in side of beef?

It is doubtful whether this photo was taken at the Mexican border in March 2019, as there are already older sources of the photo with the baby. Various international fact-checkers have already looked at the photo and found that the story about the baby and the truck at the Mexican border cannot be true.

The Brazilian fact checkers at e-farsas.com come to the conclusion that this image can already be found on various social media profiles before 2017 ( see here ). This would definitely disprove 2019 as the origin of the image.

E-farsas.com concludes that the photo of the baby has been around since at least 2017. Even if they were unable to determine the exact origin of the picture, it should have nothing to do with child trafficking or the transport of sides of beef.

A fact check on Animalpolitico.com looks very similar. This photo is described as having appeared on various blogs in Poland, Russia and Iraq since 2016. The website believes a Facebook user used this photo and took it out of context to attribute finding a truck full of kidnapped babies.

Fatal connections

According to Animalpolitico.com, there have been waves of false reports about kidnapped children and babies since August 2018. This photo was also used in one of these waves and served as pseudo-evidence.

Dangerous: Animalpolitico.com describes that following the publication of several false reports in August 2018, 56-year-old Alberto and 21-year-old Ricardo were killed in Acatlán de Osorio after residents accused them of being baby kidnappers. The prosecution concluded that they were not criminals. They were victims of the rumors.
