The suggestion here is deliberately played with the suggestion that you are Facebook: The icons, the colors, and even the title initially leave no room for doubt: Facebook seems to give out “a prize from our sponsor to a random visitor every Monday” among its users.
These prices are also listed directly on the screen and the user can choose what they can be. Of course, these are the usual “high-quality prizes”, such as iPhone6, PS4 or a Samsung Galaxy.
Of course, all with limited availability, as well as a time window of 5 minutes in which to make a decision. The time, beautifully decorated in red, visibly runs down.
This is not Facebook!
We would like to warn you at this point: this message is not a message from Facebook , but rather a browser pop-up that is fully modeled on the style of Facebook.
You can only see this by looking at the address bar. The creators of this false competition are probably aware of the problem, and so they have adapted the URL so that it sounds like a Facebook address.
Affiliate programs
As in many other places, this alleged Facebook competition is nothing more than an attempt to lure you into an affiliate, i.e. a partner program for which the person who installed this competition receives a commission for each newly registered participant . It looks something like this:
