Gütersloh – On Thursday (June 8th), previously unknown male callers claimed to be Gütersloh police officers in the Verl area. The fake police officers called using the Gütersloh police number and tried to get information about assets and private things from the people they called.
Everyone called was immediately suspicious and ended the phone calls immediately. They then informed the correct police by calling 110
Due to the current situation, the Gütersloh district police authority makes it clear that it never asks for sensitive data over the phone!
Do not give information about this to strangers who ask about your habits, working hours, number of family members, home return times or even secret numbers or passwords of any kind.
If you have any doubts about the authenticity of an alleged police officer on the phone, write down their name and telephone number if applicable. Then dial the police number 110 and have the “real” police confirm the call.
