Fraudsters offer, among other things, respiratory masks or disinfectants on the Internet at high prices.

Fraudsters shamelessly exploit fear of Corona – The most important thing to start with:

Fake shops are in high season. The fear of infection with the coronavirus is driving people to buy overpriced hygiene products in online shops. However, the goods are not delivered.

Fake shops collect and do not deliver

A 61-year-old from the city area ordered a protective suit, thermometer and disinfectant online. The man paid more than 80 euros, but the goods were not delivered. As it turned out, he had fallen for the offer of a so-called fake shop.

A 49-year-old had a similar experience. He purchased respiratory masks for around 20 euros via a classifieds platform, but the supposed seller did not deliver. The man from the Kaiserslautern district had fallen victim to a fraudster.

The police warn

Due to the current corona pandemic, respiratory masks, disinfectants and other medical products are being offered online at high prices. The perpetrators collect the money without delivering the ordered items.

In some cases, online shops are modeled on real companies, all with the aim of taking money out of victims' pockets.
