Having won the jackpot and winning millions - who wouldn't be happy about that? Scammers take advantage of exactly this.

Since the beginning of the week, the police have been registering fraudulent calls in the city again. Criminals try to lure people into a trap with apparent competitions and false promises of winnings in order to get their money.

They called several people and tricked them into believing that a competition subscription had not been canceled in time and that the subscription was now being extended for a fee. The callers cleverly put their potential victims under pressure and try to ask for bank details or get the callers to make a payment.

In other cases it was announced that the person called had won one million euros. However, VAT still has to be paid for this. A money messenger would collect the amount – usually several hundred euros.

Fortunately, no one fell for the scammers' scam. Those called recognized the fraud, hung up and informed the police. If you have received such a call or have fallen for the scammers, do not be afraid to call the police.
