The alleged debt collection company PRO COLLECT AG is currently sending payment requests and citing participation in the “EURO ONLINE/EUROJACKPOT-6-49” competition.

Consumers from all over Germany are currently contacting the Brandenburg Consumer Center who have received mail from the alleged debt collection company PRO COLLECT AG from Cologne.

What's new about the scam is that those affected are asked to cancel an alleged subscription and sign a direct debit authorization.

The consumer advice center warns: “Don’t react!”

Over 100 complaints from all over Germany ended up in the inbox of the Brandenburg Consumer Center (VZB) over the weekend alone. The letters from the false debt collection company lead the recipient to believe that they have concluded a contract to participate in a competition called “EURO ONLINE/EUROJACKPOT-6-49”.

Those affected should pay an amount of 272.46 euros. What is new is that no account details are provided for payment. Instead, those contacted should sign a direct debit authorization and send it to EURO ONLINE, Hanauer Landstraße 291b in 60314 Frankfurt am Main.

“If you have received such a letter, do not respond under any circumstances,” says lawyer Michèle Scherer.

The cover letter also includes a pre-written notice of termination and a form for direct debit authorization.

“Do not send these documents filled out and signed to the sender. Instead, it’s better to report it to the police,” the consumer expert continued.

The consumer advice center has compiled a list of known false debt collection companies and the account details they use. Consumers who receive a dubious debt collection letter can report this to the Brandenburg consumer advice center .

If you are not sure whether you have a serious or dubious letter in your hands, you can get individual advice from the VZB:
