Ulm – A man tried to trick the seller of a sofa in Donzdorf with a fairly old scam.

Last week, a 39-year-old woman offered her used piece of furniture for sale via an internet sales platform. A buyer was found very quickly. The man, who comes from England, reached an agreement with the saleswoman via email and at the same time announced that he would pay for the sofa with a check.

He then sent this to the injured party by post. However, the check was for a significantly higher amount than the agreed purchase price. According to the agreement, the woman was then supposed to give the difference in cash to the buyer's friend, who was supposed to pick up the sofa. But before the friend could pick up the sofa and the difference, the woman, who had now become alert, realized that the check was forged.

The seller from England is now being investigated for fraud.
