The scammers' ideas are becoming more and more creative - now they are trying to get your money as a supposed lawyer.

Currently (January 26, 2021), the police in Neustadt/Holstein are recording an increase in calls from older citizens. Under a pretext, an alleged lawyer Meier tries to get hold of the injured party's assets. The criminal police in Neustadt are investigating multiple suspicions of attempted fraud.

During the course of the day, the fraudster tried to use a trick four times to get hold of the victim's savings. The man posed as lawyer Meier on the phone and said that the son of the injured party had run over a child with his vehicle and was therefore now in custody. In order for the son to be released from custody, those called should give him a deposit, in one case 32,000 euros, in another 20,000 euros, so that this money can be brought to justice.

In one case, one of the victims was already at his bank to withdraw the money. The bank employee there became suspicious and had the injured party call his son. The call provided clarity: the son was at work as usual and was not in custody.

The criminal police in Neustadt/Holstein have started investigating and are warning about the scam. Other victims can contact the Neustadt officers on 04561-6150 or any other police station.
