Stuttgart-Mitte - Police officers arrested a 22-year-old suspect in the Kernerviertel on Monday (August 7, 2017) who is suspected of being involved in an attempted fraud by alleged police officers.

A 64-year-old woman received a call on Sunday (August 6, 2017) from an alleged criminal police officer.
He told her that they had allegedly arrested two perpetrators of a gang of thieves who had a list with them that contained the 64-year-old's address. After inquiring about the woman's financial situation, the caller handed the call over to a supervisor, who asked the woman to get her savings from the bank on Monday. However, the alert woman saw through the scam and alerted the police.
The officers finally arrested the 22-year-old on Tuesday afternoon during the fictitious handover of money. The German suspect was brought before the responsible judge on Tuesday (August 8, 2017), who confirmed and executed the requested arrest warrant. The investigation into possible backers is ongoing.
