Bitcoin scam: The cancer on social media. Whether in sponsored posts on Facebook or through Facebook accounts whose login details were accessed by criminals - supposedly real articles are constantly linked on the platform that promise a lot of money with little effort through a " sensational, new method ", but in the end only criminal Bitcoin scam.

The lure: Elon Musk and “Bild”

For around two weeks, and currently still, Facebook users have been unknowingly sharing a supposed article from “Bild” about Elon Musk, who wants to help all Germans financially - which, however, is not the case, Musk has nothing to do with it, he is just acting about Bitcoin scam.

The fake article uses a photo of Elon Musk as the cover photo; the “Bild” logo can be seen at the bottom right, which, however, has nothing to do with it. From the URL under the photo you can already see that the link leads somewhere else.

Such posts probably come about because users followed a phishing link ( HERE is an example) and entered their login details on a dubious site, giving criminals full access to the accounts and posting such posts in their names and tagging their friends.

What is behind the link

Behind the link is a fake article that only looks like it is from “Bild”, but is fictitious:

Throughout the fake article, links to an alleged Bitcoin trading platform are repeatedly included. You should register there, deposit 250 euros, and the money would increase.

Stay away, you can only lose on such Bitcoin platforms!

There is a criminal network behind this!

Once you register on one of these sites, you get a call from a supposed "broker" who "helps" you make the "right" investment decisions on a fake investment site designed to trick you into making over 250 euros to invest. The site is always manipulated as if the victim had made a profit if he had invested a few seconds ago.

Over the next few days, the fake broker will repeatedly encourage the victim to invest additional sums, and the money appears to keep increasing on the fake investment site. But when you then want to claim the money you supposedly won, you get a nasty surprise: a payout is never possible, at some point the site disappears and the money is gone.

We report in detail about the gigantic network of criminals here: Bitcoin Scam: How the network works with over 10,000 fraudulent sites .
