The background for today's press conference is a package received last Friday at the Queen Luise Pharmacy in Potsdam.

The shipment was posted on Thursday, November 30, 2017 around 7 a.m. at the DHL packing station in Potsdam-West, Kantstrasse, at the corner of Roseggerstrasse. The remains of the package that was defused on Friday afternoon were examined at the forensic institute of the State Criminal Police Office in Eberswalde.
This led to the conclusion that the suspicious package was capable of being implemented. The package contained an explosive device which, if deployed, would have posed a serious threat to life and limb. There was a QR code in the package.
This led to a blackmail letter demanding millions of dollars to the detriment of the parcel delivery company DHL. Against this background, the investigations are being conducted into robbery and extortion and causing an explosive explosion.

Our investigators are working hard on the case and are in close contact with the state criminal investigation offices of the other federal states, but also with the parcel service provider DHL.
We are currently assuming that the perpetrator comes from the Berlin-Brandenburg area.
