Braunschweig – A strange police operation took place on Monday evening in the area of the farm road on Helmstedter Straße.
A 34-year-old man reported to the police because his dog, which was on a leash, had been attacked by a loose bulldog in the area of the ford on the Mittelriede.
The animals had already separated again and the dog had no injuries. The man also pointed out an off-road vehicle (SUV) that was sunken in the middle meadow.
The vehicle still stuck out about 50 centimeters out of the water. The 44-year-old owner arrived at the scene of the accident shortly afterwards.
He and his 38-year-old partner drove their car to the beginning of the ford and parked there to walk the dog. Since no gear was engaged and the handbrake was not applied, the car became independent and sank into the middle meadow.
Thanks to a tow truck, the vehicle was recovered on Monday evening.
