Raubling / Rosenheim – For a few weeks now, the federal police have again noticed an increasing number of people on freight trains who wanted to enter the federal territory without permission. On Thursday night (July 20th), freight trains were checked again in the German-Austrian border area. The officials discovered 21 migrants.

Several freight trains were randomly stopped at the train station in Raubling. These were traveling from Austria towards Munich. On two trains, the federal police found a total of 21 people hiding under truck trailers. The two women and 19 men had either not considered or accepted the significant risks of their trip. They mainly come from Gambia, Nigeria and Somalia. The Africans, aged between 16 and 37, did not have any papers with them for their intended stay in Germany. They were taken to the Rosenheim Federal Police office.

Since it cannot currently be ruled out that people will use cross-border freight transport in a life-threatening way to enter the Federal Republic of Germany without permission, further event-related controls must be expected in the future. These measures are closely coordinated with the authorities at the departure points and the respective transport companies. Impacts on passenger traffic are unlikely to be avoided. The Federal Police therefore asks for your understanding.
