Since December 25, 2019, Circus Krone has once again seen an elephant in the ring.

Strictly speaking, it is the 44-year-old elephant Bara. In spring 2019, she and the rest of the herd were taken by the circus to an animal reserve in southern Spain. Since Christmas Day 2019, the female elephant has been back in the ring.

FCK CIRCUS KRONE

This photo comes from the premiere of Circus Krone yesterday in Munich. It shows Bara. The female elephant lived with the herd in a park in Spain for almost 9 months. Circus Krone had them transported back by truck and dragged them back into the ring.

The fact check

As BR24 reports , Circus Krone opened the winter season in its Munich headquarters on December 25, 2019. In the spring, the circus brought five elephants to an animal reserve in southern Spain. According to their own statements, the three younger female elephants (Bara, Burma and Aisha) were supposed to make it easier for the two older female elephants to get used to it.

“I am happy and relieved that every animal can do what is good for them at any time. It was important not to bring Mala into a new environment alone. The herd coped extremely well with the move and getting used to Spain. Each animal showed different behavior patterns and so I realized relatively quickly that Bara doesn't behave like the rest.

Bara is used to dealing with me on a daily basis and misses the interaction in the ring, which I can give her in the Krone building during the winter play season. Burma, on the other hand, feels comfortable where Bara is. So we decided to bring them both back,”

says Jana Mandana Lacey-Krone. Circus Krone is planning a retirement home for its elephants at its stud farm in Weßling am Ammersee. They are currently still waiting for the building permit. ( We reported )

Animal rights activists criticized the plan to bring the two elephants back to Germany.
